American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Oncology night shift role requiring a current CA RN license and strong central line skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in a 27-bed acute care Med/Surg and Oncology unit with telemetry monitoring
- Opportunity to care for adult patients, including those with general medical, surgical, GYN, orthopedic, and oncology histories
- Patient ratios are 1:5 for Med/Surg and 1:4 for Chemo/Telemetry
- Remote telemetry with dedicated monitor techs; no vents or acute cardiac/stroke cases
- Cerner EMR is used on the unit
- Night shifts are 12 hours with a requirement to work every other weekend
- First to float to other Med/Surg units as needed
- Charge nurses do not take patient assignments and a resource nurse is available per shift
- Duties include providing compassionate, patient-centered care and education to a diverse adult population
- Support is provided by nurse aides, hospitalist coverage, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy
- No IV team; resource nurse available for assistance and a specialized team available for PICC/midlines
- Must report within 30 minutes if placed on stand-by or call
- Navy blue scrubs required for this unit
- Expect to work two major holidays and one minor holiday per assignment
- One-shift Cerner orientation and up to two shifts unit orientation are provided as needed
- First-time travelers will be considered

- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience as an RN
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong central line management skills required
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
- Chemo certification is a bonus but not required
- Must provide two professional references, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and another supervisor or peer from the last 3 years
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Applicants must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
