Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist – Assisted Hygiene
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our team. This position delivers high-quality preventive dental care using an assisted hygiene model , where the hygienist focuses on clinical work while dental assistants and OPA (Oral Patient Assistants) support procedural tasks and patient flow . The ideal candidate will efficiently manage a minimum of two operatories simultaneously , maximizing productivity and patient satisfaction while maintaining the highest standard of clinical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive dental hygiene care, including:
- Child Prophylaxis: 30 minutes
- Adult Prophylaxis: 60 minutes
- 2 Quadrant Scaling & Root Planing (SRP): 60–90 minutes
- Work efficiently in an assisted hygiene model , leveraging dental assistants and OPA staff to handle delegated tasks such as charting, instrument setup, patient preparation, and clinical support.
- Manage a minimum of two operatories simultaneously , ensuring smooth patient flow and timely completion of appointments.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including periodontal charting, oral cancer screenings, and risk evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide oral hygiene instruction to patients.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate closely with dentists, dental assistants, OPAs, and administrative staff to optimize patient care and clinic efficiency.
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR).
- Maintain professional development and stay current with advancements in dental hygiene practices.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in a multi-operatory, assisted hygiene setting preferred.
- Experience working with dental assistants and OPA staff in a clinical setting.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple patients efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of dental software systems and electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
